Kate and I took another visit to Clacton Air Show this year, and just like last time we went on the Friday afternoon. Unlike last year however, the weather was not as good.
As usual, I took many photographs (181 to be precise) and whilst I've been going through them I thought I'd take a look at those from last year.
Last year's blue skies where contrasted by this years dull grey clouds which at times threatened to rain over us but fortunately didn't. Even so, the skies wrought havoc over the time table.
Some planes had to pull out of the event entirely, such as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Others were rescheduled. The Blades Display Team arrived at about 4:45pm instead of opening the display at around 1:30pm.
There was still some good flying though, with the Red Arrows being the highlight of the show, closely followed by The Blades and the Royal Navy Black Cats. A couple of high speed jets did their thing as well, but personally I prefer the display teams.
Going back to the photography though, I've re-read last years comments which I made on the 2006 Clacton Air Show where I mentioned problems with the camera.
One year on, and I'm still using the Sony DSC-P200 and I think the problems of dust in the lens seem to be getting worse. Again, I've cropped this years pictures to try and avoid spoiling as many as possible but it is getting more and more difficult. I really must aim to have a new camera by the time next years air show comes around.
