I've just got a couple of bits and pieces to write about that I haven't bothered with over the last month. I'll work backwards from now I think.

Christmas
First of all, I can't get away without mentioning Christmas one last time can I (I can? Well tough luck). Yet again the festive season has been and gone and again I can't help feel that in general, people make to big a thing over it. We've been force fed Christmas related media since August/September so we all get brainwashed into thinking what a great time Christmas is. However, it's all over within a day or two and is a bit of an anti-climax.

I got some nice things though, for example: a couple of shirts for work, "Radio One's Live Lounge" CD, "Scissor Sistors - Ta-Dah" CD, "The Best of Tony Allen" CD and the Chris Moyles autobiography (which I am already half way through).

Amateur Radio Advanced Exam
I've had my result paper through for the exam I took back on 4 December for the advanced amateur radio licence. I was a little nervous about opening the letter, but am pleased to see that I passed. Therefore it won't be too long now before I can apply for my new callsign.

ICDL Basic
On Friday 22 December I took the last of the 7 exams required to obtain the basic "International Computer Driving Licence" qualification. This time it was the "Basic Concepts of IT" exam (module 1). I thought it went okay but I'm not likely to find out my result until the second week in January. As long as I did pass then I will finally have the qualification and hopefully will be able to proceed on to a more advanced course.

Training in London
On 18-19 December, I had to become a commuter. There was a training course being held in the centre of London that work had asked me to attend, so there I was at 8am standing on the platform with all the other city workers feeling very important. I quite enjoyed the buzz that goes with going into London even though it was for a work event - I wonder how long that would last for if I did work in the city? I was very impressed with the railway service as well considering I'm not on the mainline. I didn't have to change once until I reached Liverpool Street.
