As I'm sure I've already mentioned, since the end of August I've been attending a course in order to prepare myself for an exam that I need to pass in order to obtain an advanced level amateur radio licence.
Today I took the mock exam as preparation for the real thing. An exam paper of 62 multiple choice questions was provided but unlike the real thing, we only had 1 hour to do as much as possible. This was more about getting used to exam conditions and exam technique.
In the real thing, there will be the same number of questions but 2 hours to complete them in.
As this exam has got closer I've been getting less confident about passing it, but this mock test boosted my confidence a fair bit. I managed to complete the entire paper within one hour and if it had been the real thing would probably have passed since I got a mark of 85.5% (53/62). Those running the course expect the pass mark to be in the region of 60-65%.
So as long as the paper isn't significantly harder than todays one, hopefully I'll be okay. One things for certain, I must make sure I do some last minute swotting especially in the areas of basic electronics and semi-conductors. Those are my weakest areas, but also the areas where most of the questions will be sourced from.
