My website has today been the victim of a small amount of spam in the form of two advertisments being placed in the comments system under a blog entry in March.

This is the first occurance of such posts and they have been removed. Fingers crossed it's not the start of a more serious problem otherwise I'll have to consider previewing comments before they are published (at present comments are published as soon as they are submitted and reviewed by me at a later time).

I want to state for the record that spamming my system is in breach of terms and conditions which have to be agreed to when posting a comment. I have also added a new clause which forbids advertising unless expressly allowed by myself in writing. I reserve the right to ban any IP address breaching these terms and conditions and will have no problem reporting offenders to their internet service provider.

Now I've got that off my chest, I thought I'd mention that I have recently started studying for the International Computer Driving Licence, or ICDL (formally European Computer Driving Licence, or ECDL). Today I found out that I passed the first exam out of seven which I took on Saturday. The exam was pretty simple focusing around internet and email. Unfortunately I don't know what my pass rate was. I hope it was over 90%. I'd be suprised if it wasn't.
